Age: 48

Kevin Post, 48, a longtime resident of Williston, ND, and formerly of Columbus, ND, passed away Thursday morning, May 13, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.

Kevin Lee Post was born July 11, 1961 in Powers Lake, ND to Leon Allen and Carol Jean (Thompson) Post. He was raised in Columbus, ND where he graduated from Columbus High School. Growing up in this small rural community, Kevin developed very strong friendships that have continued into his adult life.

Kevin was a good natured, friendly, compassionate guy with a kind heart and a gift to gab! Loyal to his friends and loved and respected by those whose lives he has touched.

Immediately after high school in 1979, Kevin ventured to Williston, to pursue a career in the oil patch, where he worked in every facet of the oil industry: surveying, roustabout, drilling, production, equipment sales and management.

In 1996 he started with National Oilwell Varco, initially working in the warehouse before moving into an outside salesman position, working tireless hours building his customer base in McKenzie and Richland counties. In June of 2009 he became the store manager. He was a compassionate leader who appreciated the hard work of his employees.

On June 26, 1987 Kevin was united in marriage to Rhonda Lynn Chapman in Williston. They had three children: one daughter, Meghan Lee and two sons, Matthew Allan and McKeon Hayden. Kevin was a loving father and husband who cherished all of his time with his family. He taught his boys how to hunt, fish and shoot their bows with patience and love. He always put his family before himself. He will leave a huge void in the hearts of his family and friends.

Kevin was a member of the Missouri Basin Bowmen and enjoyed volunteering his time to help out the club whenever they needed him

Kevin had a passion for the outdoors and loved to go camping (he was our designated fire starter) he also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, four wheeling and especially motorcycle riding with his friends (Sturgis, SD was his favorite destination).

Surviving Kevin are his family: wife, Rhonda Post of Williston; his two sons, Matthew Allan (16) and McKeon Hayden (13) both of Williston; his mother, Carol Post of Columbus, ND; his brother, James Post of Portland, OR; and his sister, Rebecca (Randal) Johnson of North Branch, MN and their daughter, Lilli. Also surviving Kevin are his in-laws, father-in-law, Allan Chapman of Williston; Teresa (Bruce) Kyllo of Williston and daughters, Alissa and Jenna; Kevin (Elaine) Chapman of Williston and daughters, Alex, Frankie and Norah; Kim (Mark) York of Rapid City, SD and dog, Gypsy; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Meghan Lee Post; his father, Leon Post; paternal grandparents, Leo and Lilli Post; his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Geneva Thompson; two uncles, David and Mike Post; an aunt, Leila Peterson; and mother-in-law, Rose Chapman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kevin Post Benefit Fund, c/o WCCU, PO Box 2237, Williston, ND 58802, or the charity of one's choice.
