Holly Hanson, 82, a longtime Wildrose resident, passed away Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND.
Holly was born on December 1, 1927 in Wildrose, ND to F. E. and Lillian (Hodges) Stefonowicz. She was raised and educated in the Wildrose area , graduating from the Wildrose High School in 1945.
During World War Two, Holly was employed as a secretary for the Rail Road, working in Newton, KS and then in Chicago, IL. Later Holly moved to San Francisco, CA where she was employed by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.
Holly returned to Wildrose and on July 20, 1952 she was united in marriage to Harley Hanson. The couple established their home in Wildrose where they raised their children. When Harley passed away, in 1979, Holly returned to work as an Insurance Agent with the Hanson Insurance Agency. She also wrote the Wildrose news for the Tioga Tribune and Crosby Journal for over 39 years.
Holly enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and dogs, but most of all, just loving her grandchildren.

Holly is survived by her two children, daughter, Candy and her husband, Don Hartman of Wildrose, and son, Darcy Hanson and his fiancee’, Leslie Deering both of Wildrose; grandchildren, Kyle, Klay, and Brittany Hanson all of Williston; one great-granddaughter, Paiton Hanson of Williston; two brothers, Gene Stefonowicz of Williston and Jerry Stefonowicz of Spokane, WA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley Hanson; one sister, Viola Olson; two brothers, Maurice Stefonowicz and Leroy Stefonowicz; and her companions, Cuddles, Scooby and Dixie.

Her funeral will be celebrated Monday morning, May 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wildrose. Rev. Dan Maurer will officiate.

Friends may call at the church on Monday for the hour preceding the funeral.
|

|
A private burial of the cremated remains will be held in the Wildrose Cemetery at a later date.
