Allen R. Johnson, 81, a longtime Williston resident, formerly of Alkabo, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, July 15, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston.
Allen R. Johnson was born September 26, 1928 in Crosby, ND to August and Clara Johnson. He was raised in the Alkabo area and graduated from Columbus High School in 1946.
Allen enlisted in the United States Army on his 18th birthday and was stationed in Korea for most of his military duty. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled in college at Minot for two years. Allen always said that while in college he learned to play cards and drink beer.
Allen went to work for Peterson’s Creamery in Williston, in 1952 and worked there until his retirement in 1994. He was affectionately known in Williston as the Milkman!
On May 25, 1953 he was united in marriage to Ann Pelza in Williston. They established their home in Williston where they raised their two children, Kimberley and Jim.
Allen was a great sports fan, always cheering for the Twins, Vikings and the Coyotes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Clara Johnson; his wife, Ann Johnson in 2000; his son, James (Jim) Johnson in 2003; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Hugo Strom.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Rappenecker of Bismarck, ND; three nieces and one nephew.

His Funeral will be celebrated Monday morning, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church Chapel in Williston. Intern Pastor Joel Skindlov will officiate.

|
Friends may call at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and Monday at the church for the hour preceding the service.
|
 |
|
Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.
|
