Raymond “Ray” Larson, 81, long time rural Williston resident, died on Tuesday afternoon, May 25, 2010 at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Williston.
Ray, son of Lars and Regina Larson, was born on October 9, 1928, in Fargo, ND. He was raised on the family farm in Mont Townwhip and graduated from Williston High School in 1946.
On July 10, 1949, Ray was united in marriage to Leona Urdahl. They lived and raised their family in the Williston area.
Ray had many talents and jobs. He worked in a Williston Body Shop, dug sewers for Njos Brothers and was a salesman for the Conklin Company. He was a very good mechanic and worked from his farm shop for neighbors and friends. He built some of his own machinery. Ray built a rammed earth home which we enjoyed for many years. He was a talented musician, played accordion and sang bass in many singing groups, traveling around the country.
Ray was a member of the Lutheran Brethren Fellowship Church where he had been an elder and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Gideons.
Ray is survived by his wife, Leona of Williston; three sons, Gary Larson of Williston, David (Julie) Larson of The Villages, Fl, James (Susan) Larson of Williston; three daughters, Val (Stan) Oxendahl of Spokane, WA, Naomi (Orlin) Rogness of Lakeville, MN, Carla (Ron Oster, fiancee) Thompson of Williston; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glenn (Barbara) Larsen of Stuttgart, AR, Merlin (Judi) Larsen of Spearfish, SD, and Loren (Mary) Larsen of Chula Vista, CA; one sister, Lylas (Eldore) Gilje of Rolette, ND; two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Lutheran Brethren Fellowship Church in Williston. Pastors Ron Erickson and Glenn Larsen will officiate.

Friends may call at the Everson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM until noon and at the church for the hour preceding the service.

Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Williston.
