Dora S. LeMay Higgins, 86, of Williston, died at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home on Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010.

Dora S. LeMay was born at the LeMay homestead near Williston, North Dakota on January 27, 1924 to Fred and Lydia (Bauer) LeMay. She was raised in Hebron Township and graduated from Flandreau High School in South Dakota on May 1st, 1943.

On February 1, 1969 she was united in marriage to Charley B Higgins. The couple made Everett, Washington their home until Dora returned to Williston after Charley’s death in 1992.

Dora was a member of the St Joseph’s Catholic Church and she was involved in several local organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose.

Surviving Dora in death are her two daughters, Skipp Miller of Williston and Cheryl (Red) Harper of Palisade, CO; one son, Doyle LaVerdure of Brighton CO; Seven grandchildren, Sahiyela White Crane, Wenona Falcon, Jena Lynn Nestler, Heath James Harper, and Angela, Jennifer and Jill LaVerdure; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Marie (Buddy) Anderson of Williston and Joyce Good of Wolf Point, MT.

Preceding Dora in death were her parents; husband, Charley Higgins; one son, John Miller; one grandson, Chaska Running Shield; brothers Paul (Buster), Dennis, and James LeMay; sisters, Catherine Bighorn and Leona Granbois; and one infant sister, Bertha LeMay.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 2nd at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston. Father Dennis Schafer will officiate.

An evening vigil will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday at the Everson Funeral Home.

Friends are welcome to call at the Everson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from noon until 5:00 PM and on Friday, July 2nd from 9:00 AM until noon and for the hour preceding the service at the church.

Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Williston.
