Marion Sathra, 89, a longtime Williston resident, passed away Friday morning, September 17, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston.

Marion was born September 19, 1920 in Froid, Montana, the daughter of Simon and Ingeborg (Nordaune) Ronning. She graduated from Froid High School and then went on to complete her nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Williston, North Dakota. She also had additional training at Gillette Children’s Hospital in Minnesota during her career as a nurse.

Marion and her husband, Jerrold Sathra were united in marriage on May 26, 1947 in Williston.
She wore the Norwegian broach her father’s mother wore at her wedding. Jerrold served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War Two. He later was a contributor to the book “Coffin Corner”. Jerrold was a projectionist for the Snyder Theaters and they also had a commercial chicken ranch named the “Prairie Pearl” and sold eggs to local grocery stores.

Marion was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital for many years. Her life has been devoted to caring for others. Following her retirement from the hospital, she worked with home health and as a desk clerk at Super 8.

Marion always loved animals, including her cats and dogs. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and reading. Her beautiful smile will be missed most of all.

Marion moved to Bethel Home in June of 2006.

Marion is survived by her two daughters, Myrna Stoner (Todd) of Round Rock, TX and their children, William and Alisha, daughter, Iann Ravenhorst (John) of Rochester, MN and their children, Brenda, Missie, Traci, and Christi: and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Bakken of Billings, MT; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrold; parents, Simon and Ingeborg; one granddaughter, Heidi; three brothers, John, Imil, and Norman Ronning; a niece, Karen.

The Everson Funeral Home of Williston is caring for the family.

Her funeral will be celebrated Tuesday morning, September 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel in Bethel Lutheran Home. Pastor Betty Czubay will officiate.

Friend may call at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday at Bethel Home Chapel for the hour preceding the funeral.

Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.
