Gladys L. Olson, 78, of Valley City, formerly of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2011, at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, North Dakota.

Gladys Lorraine Johnson, the daughter of Edwin and Lydia (Sorenson) Johnson, was born June 15, 1933 in Williston, North Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, and raised and educated in the Williston area.

Gladys was united in marriage to Carl F. Olson in 1960. They made their home in Williston, where she worked at various jobs. She later moved to Valley City, and was living in the Sheyenne Care Center.

She would oftentimes carry the pot down to the spring to water and care for it. The tree is still flourishing after 58 years. When family called to check on Gladys, she would always ask how her lemon tree was doing. She also loved to crochet and made many beautiful items for family and friends.

Gladys was a member of Ladies of the Moose in Williston.

Gladys is survived by her sisters, Delores (Norman) Thompson of Ray and Myrtle Erdman of Williston; one brother, Robert (Patricia) Johnson of Williston; sisters-in-law, Bessie Larmer of Williston and Inga Moe of Minot; brothers-in-law, Myron Erickson of Williston, Bennie Olson of Williston and Delbert (Mavis) Olson of Prosser, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
