Charles "Chuck" Joseph, 88, a longtime Williston, ND resident and businessman, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Charles “Chuck” E. Joseph was born February 13, 1924 in Williston to Charles A. and Margaret (Bohamera) Joseph. He graduated from Williston High School with the Class of 1942. He attended Idaho State University and graduated from Chicago Industrial Institute in 1947.

Chuck served overseas in the Pacific Theater of War with the 534th Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment of the US Army during World War II.

On July 26, 1967 he married Vicky Volney in Williston. Chuck considered himself a merchant, and was the owner of Chuck’s Lounge for 51 years, Joseph’s Ready to Wear, and various other businesses.

A man of many interests, Chuck was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., 40 et 8, Williston Drum and Bugle Corps, Elks and Moose Lodges, and was Grand Chef de Gare from 1986-87. As a young man he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

He really enjoyed visiting with his many customers throughout the years. Family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Vicky, of Williston; his two daughters, Jan Joseph and Tammy (Gene) Johnson of Williston; three grandchildren, Leah (Ryan) Ellis, Kevin Johnson and Bradley Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Joseph; brothers, Jess, Lloyd, and Bob Joseph; and a sister, Camille Young.

The family desires that memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or the V.F.W.

The Everson Funeral Home of Williston is caring for the family.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, September 20, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Williston by Father Russell Kovash.

Friends may call at Everson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday for the hour preceding the funeral mass.

Cremation will follow the service with burial at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
