His Funeral Service will be celebrated Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Everson Coughlin Funeral Home Chapel in Williston. Rev. Brian Knutson will officiate.


Friends may call at the Everson Coughlin Funeral Home on Monday, February 11th from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM and on Tuesday, February 12th from 9:00 AM until service time at the Funeral Home.


Interment will follow, with Military Rites, in the Riverview Cemetery in Williston.

Marvin L. Bishop, 77, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Thursday morning, February 7, 2019 at his home in Rural Williston.

Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Brother is now with our beloved God in Heaven.

Marvin was born November 13, 1941 in Darby Montana. He attended Darby High School where he loved the sport of football. He also attended College in Billings, Montana.

Marvin was a Military Veteran serving in Key West, Florida and South Korea. He was in the U.S. Army for four years.

In 1973, he married the love of his life, Darlene and they raised their daughter, Tina. In 1979, they moved as a family to Williston, North Dakota.

Marvin was a business owner in trucking for the oil industry for many years. He owned Marv’s Roustabout and then continued on as part owner of Dakota Diesel until his retirement.

In life and retirement, Marvin loved the outdoors. He hunted, fished and camped. He also loved to golf and play horse shoes.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Darlene of 46 years; daughter, Tina (Don Flesness); five grandsons, Scott Wiedrich (Leah), Kurt Wiedrich (Jill), Garret Flesness, Brett Flesness (Felicia Paine), Evitt Flesness; and Katie Schnider (Josh); his six great-grandchildren, Aislinn Wiedrich, Amelia Wiedrich, KaylynnWiedrich, Kade Wiedrich, Kolt Wiedrich and Luella Schnider; brother, David Shivel (Annelie); and sister, Bonnie Danson.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Norman and Chuck; and sister, Wanda.
